UNCW Surf Team Member Scores Big!

 UNCW’s Nick Rupp went from fourth to first in his final heat to win the National Scholastic Surfing Association men’s individual championship for 2013.

Nominations are now open for all officers positions in the club!

You can nominate someone via email to secretary@wblasurf.org or make a floor nomination at the next scheduled meeting June 18th at Neptune’s, 7 PM. Nominations are open until June 30.

New Meeting Date June 18th, now meetings will take place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month! Make a note!

We have had many past members who indicated that they are always tied up on the first Tuesday of each month with other obligations. We have decided to move our meeting to the 3rd Tuesday of the month to avoid overlaps in meetings and perhaps get some of our valuable older members back into the fun!!!!

2013 WBLA Kona Waterman Classic Pro-Am Results

Here ya’ go! Braggin rights at the end of the day belong to the following waterman and women, who were on their game, with varying conditions throughout the each day!

The 2013 WBLA Kona Waterman Classic Pro-Am is now in the history books! It will go down as the best event in our history with over 100 participants in a 2 day event. The following are the results for the Longboard Surfing, Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Surfing, and the SUP Ocean Race for both Novice and Elite divisions. Our Pro-Longboard Champ was crowned, and the coveted WBLA Kona “All Waterman” award, 3 events–one winner, sponsored by Clontz-Newkirk was revealed at the end of the last day’s event!

Cash prizes were awarded for the Pro-Longboard ($1,000), “ALL” Waterman ($200.00) and the Elite SUP Ocean race 1^st ($125.00), 2^nd ($75.00) and 3rd ($50.00).

Congratulations to all of the finalist and to all of our sponsors who supported this great event!
